This is a fantastic pre-civil war quilt done in a Square in a Square pattern. It has been dated to 1850-1860 and measures 68" x 78" in size. It is made of over dyed greens with black and yellow. The second fabric is a tiny red and white checked and double cinnamon pinks. It is completely hand pieced and hand quilted with 16 stitches to the inch. The backing is a brown and white shirting fabric and it has a cotton batt. It is in excellent condition or near mint and looks like it has never been used or used very little as there is no wear or damages. The back of the quilt has a strip of white velcro hand stitched to the backing so that it could be hung on a wall for display as shown in the last picture. A truly great quilt that has survived for over 150 years in near mint condition. This is truly a one of a kind quilt.
