William IV, dated Oct 31st 1835 1835 Sampler by Elizabeth Stuckey. Unframed. The sampler is worked in cotton on canvas ground, in cross stitch throughout. Meandering strawberry border. Colours purple, blue, red, pink, green and gray. Verse entitled ''Mercy of Christ.'' reads ''Lord, teach a little child to pray,> Thy grace betimes impart,> And grant thy holy spirit may> Renew my infant heart.'' ''For all who early seek his face,> Shall surely taste his love,> Jesus shall guide them by his grace> To dwell with him above.'' Signed and dated ''Elizabeth Stuckey Aged 7 Years Oct 31st 1835''. A few motifs including potted flowering plants and trees. Good. No holes. A few very pale stains and uniform age darkening of the ground. No stitch losses. Single loose thread to ''l'' of ''dwell''. Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. No colour run. 15.5ins by 13.25ins wide
