O & M Hauser (Elastolin) was founded in 1904 in Ludwigsberg, Germany and was one of the market leaders in composition figures. (These figures are made of various materials, most commonly a mixture of sawdust and glue molded around a metal armature.) During the ‘30s, the company moved to Neustadt bei Coburg, the center of the German doll and toy industry and acquired the assets of some of its competitors. They developed new techniques thet allowed them to manufacture hundreds of different and difficult poses and the period from 1932-1942 was considered “The Golden Age” of composition figures. It was also a time of national fervor and Hauser emphasized the production of German army figures for which they are best known today.
Duro figures are second-grade Elastolin products made in Czechoslovakia.
