Antique, Victorian era jewellery, hair ornament, ideally suited as a shawl or shoulder brooch. Set with genuine rubies. Made 19th century. Measures 4 1/2 inches long. Originally intended as an aigrette or hair ornament, but suitable to wear as a brooch, ideal to pin a shawl on the shoulder. Long form like a dirk, arrow or dagger with engraved and moulded foliage and flowers, set with rose cut rubies. The openwork parts twine and wind around each other in gilt metal with bunches of rubies providing a lovely pink colour. Great condition with one possible repair underneath a leaf (on the back and totally invisible).
