Antique, Victorian dog brooch. 14carat gold set with rose cut diamond eyes and an old mine cut diamond in it''s mouth. Circa 1860-90. A little over 1 inch in diameter, fully 3 dimentional from the front. Weighs 8.8grams. Realistically modelled dog - of the terrier family (we have been told he''s a Westie or Cairn), with long coat and little pointy ears. Fabulous detail in every lock of hair. Marvellous expression given to the eyes by the shaggy eyebrows. Great little jowels with hand-engraved detail. The diamond in the dog''s mouth is estimated at .32ct. The pin is closed at the back.
