xceptional pair of antique bracelets. 22carat gold, each set with 3 large amethysts. Made circa 1860. Each bracelet measures approximately 7 inches end to end. Together, they weigh 65.7grams. Each bracelet has approximately 29carats of amethysts. The tops of the bracelets are really all about the wonderful, deep violet amethysts: two ovals flanking one rectangular, with rounded corners. Set in high carat gold that shows off the purple colour to greatest effect. Joined on one side to the rest of the band by a hinge and on the other, by a clasp. The rest of the bangles are even more fabulous, if possible, consisting of a mesh-like band composed of larger than usual links, joined to their neighbours on all 4 sides. The borders have beautiful edges with wirework rings surrounding gold beads. safety chains - in good order, for added security. The previous owner, a retired antiques dealer, believed these bracelets to be French, but in the absence of any visible hallmarks, we can only assume European. Very good condition.
