Unusual Art Nouveau design brooch, depicting a frog on lily pads. Sterling silver, and garnet eyes to the frog, who is set with marcasite.Tendrils at the edge of the brooch are set with onyx. Many hallmarks on this piece, including English import mark for London 1990, and the word maker's mark M e Ld. Probably originated in Europe, could have been made a lot earlier. Brooch measures 30 mm by 40 mm (1.1/8 inches by 1.1/2 inches). Excellent condition.
