CIRCA 1650 GERMAN BROADSWORD, WALOON PATTERN SWORD #SW4432
Price: $1495.00
A nice example of a very sought after early pattern broadsword.
Perfect Waloon form hilt in excellent condition with most of its original silvering intact. Two large pierced dish counterguards, forward quillon, thumb ring, forged and chiseled bars and decorative knops. Large spherical pommel nicely chiseled. Wood grip with twisted copper wire wraps and Turk’s head ferrules (base one missing and some small chips of wood at base of grip).
Straight double edged blade in fair condition with peppering is deeply stamped “IOHAN” with the Running Wolf of SOLINGEN, both sides. Blade is about 31.5” long. Sword is about 38” overall.
A very similar sword is pictured in the book “Swords and Blades of the American Revolution” by Neumann plate 33S.
Grip is an 18th century replacement and blade appears to have an old repair 3" from tip, see photos.......so, selling at a very reasonable price!

Price is firm.
