A Moro Kris from the Mindanou Region of the Philippines. The dark hardwood hilt is adorned with a silver band at the top which appears to be held in place by hand made copper nails. Another silver band encircles the base of the hilt, above which is a tightly wraped band of cord. The tassel of braded ikat was attached to the sword when we acquired it as a part of a large Moro collection. The straight blade is in excellent condition. The blade is 21.75", overall length 26". C 1910 Ex Butterfield & Butterfiedl 1998.
