SOLD Pair of authentic antique, 12th–13th century, Medieval Knight Prick Spurs, constructed of hand-forged wrought iron, with slender down - curved, U-shaped heel-band with pierced terminals for straps, and short neck with goad of elongated pyramidal shaped spikes.
During the middle ages the spurs were one of the symbols of the Knighthood.
At the Knighthood Ceremony, (dubbing), an established knight put spurs on the new knight and his sword was girded on, with a kiss and a declaration that he was a knight.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length with the buckle: 14.5 cm (5 3/4 in).
CONDITION: Well preserved, in very good condition, surface slightly pitted with signs of cleaning and polishing.
