This Viking sword was found during the 1950’s in a river bank in the Aube Region of France near the village of Romilly. (full details to purchaser)
During the years 885 - 889 AD the Vikings invaded this region and attacked the nearby towns of Sens, Troys, Melun, Meaux and Chezy. In Melun, Meaux and Chezy the Vikings set up camps.
A sword of nearly identical form was excavated at the Viking Fort at Camp de Peran in Brittany. The fort was destroyed by fire in the 930’s.
The sword bent in sacrificial ritual, would accompany the deceased warrior to the legendary Halls of Valhalla.
Sword is as found and very solid and stable with no issues. It displays like a work of art!
A very historic offering with a wonderful provenance!
