Under the curved "roof" of this icon sits Christ enthroned, representing Him after the crucifixion in His divine form as both judge and savior of the world. Scenes from His life begin at upper left with His birth or Nativity, followed by His baptism, entry into Jerusalem and the Ascension. Touches of blue and white enamel give perspective and make the complex events of each scene seem more immediate.
