Antique Oushak, Turkey, circa 1900Antique Oushaks are eagerly sought after for their subtle, tone-on-tone compositions, but rarely do they have the restraint of this marvelous carpet. Here the design consists solely of a crenellated medallion hovering amidst a slightly darker creamy tan field. Only a narrow vinescroll border frames the field, with a pale tan outer zone as an added accent. The silken lustrous wool pile provides the final touch in this creamy symphony.
