Charles Henri Toussaint A nineteenth century French painter, illustrator and etcher, Charles Henri Toussaint gained his highest reputation for his architectural studies of Paris, the French provinces, Oxford and Cambridge. Charles Toussaint studied painting in Paris under Gaucherel and Andre and etching under Brunet-Desbaines. He first exhibited his art at the Paris Salon in 1874 and during the following years received numerous awards, including medals from the Exposition Universalle in 1876, 1884, 1899 and 1900.

This and others are of this very small edition of 50, on Holland (Vellum finish) paper. Published in Paris, in 1885. This work measure 4.75 by 6. inches and unsigned in good condition. Plate signed.

Many great engravings by Corot, Delacroix, Diaz, Duprey, Fromentin, and a host of others were published in this short lived publication. Each work is in good condition and with text as published in this suite of works.
