Quaint umbrella-shaped needlecase - carved bone. Unscrew the handle to access the compartment for needles. Measures 13 cm long and 1.2 cm diameter. It has a hole drilled through the top - possibly it once held a Stanhope here - or it could have been a cord. Excellent detail in the umbrella spokes. Excellent condition all round. Victorian era, circa mid to late 1800s.
