This original engraved double page, centerfold is titled, "The Emancipation of The Negroes, January, 1863--The Past and The Future.--Drawn by Mr. Thomas Nast." It is signed, "Th:Nast." It shows a series of sketches of slavery on one side and freedom on the other. The center sketch is of a prosperous African American family in a home with a picture of Lincoln on the wall.
