Ancient Widows Mite Necklace Pendant 14ct Gold
Price: $650.00
As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” Luke 21:1-4 The coin referred to in this passage was the “half prutah,” also known in Greek as the “lepton.” Leptons were first minted by Alexander Jannaeus beginning in the year 103 BC. These coins were of very low value and were used only in the poor province of Judea. At the time of Jesus it took 48 leptons just to buy a loaf of bread. We have here a beautiful Widows Mite coin set in a very nice 14ct gold setting. This coin is authentic and a top quality widows mite. The coins were found in or around Jerusalem. The setting is made from approximately 8.3 grams of solid 14ct Gold and is handcrafted by our own world class Armenian Jewelers here in Jerusalem. The gold is stamped as 14ct. Size: 1.2cm Gold: 14ct Weight of Gold: (approx.) 8.3g This piece comes complete with a certificate of authenticity issued by the Hamedian Gallery as authorized by the Israeli Antiquity Authority.
