Dark brownish-red patina, each handle decorated with stylized lion heads facing front, with details of the eyes and fur incised. A heavy ribbed ring cast separately in the mouth and hung through two large holes. Three piercings for attachment. Examples of this type are said to be from a chest. A fine pair of handles in this style is in the Wadsworth Atheneum at Hartford.
