This piece is part of a collection we are posting on the site. These are often misidentified as crossbow arrow ends. However, to our knowledge no such items have ever been found associated with crossbow bolts. These particular pieces went over the ends of the wooden ribs in large parasols. The protruding hooks put tension on the strings or straps that were attached to the skin of the parasol. This piece is attributed to the Warring States period (475-221 BC) Please take a close look at this and the many other such pieces we have posted this week. They are very interesting indeed. This particular specimen is solid and heavy with a patchy green patina. It measures 7.1 cm in length and weighs 17 grams. The socket is empty and measures 1.1 cm across. The tip is flared and hexagonal. There are no signs of repair. « Less

This pair is part of a collection we are posting on the site. This is a matched pair that is attributed to the Warring States period (475-221 BC). Both pieces have a silvery coating and patchy green patina. This silvery coating (which is likely tin) is often attributed to weapons of the royal class. Please take a close look at this and the many other such pieces we have posted this week. They are very interesting indeed. These particular specimens are solid and heavy. They each measure roughly 8 cm in length and weigh 21 grams each. The sockets are empty and measures roughly 1.2 cm across. The terminal ends are round and flared. There are no signs of repair. « Less

This pair is part of a collection we are posting on the site. This is a pair of parasol tips that look nearly identical except for one being longer than the other. The shorter one has rough edges on the socket and a split down the side. It is likely that it was once the same length as its partner. These are attributed to the Warring States period (475-221 BC). Please take a close look at this and the many other such pieces we have posted this week. They are very interesting indeed. These particular specimens are solid and heavy. The longer one weighs 32 grams and measures 10.3 cm in length. The socket is empty and measures just over 1 cm across. The shorter one is 8.1 cm in length and weighs 28 grams. « Less

If this powerful figure,a fish with two riders, had a utilitarian purpose, it would have been as a handle for a needle-like point fitted into the mouth area. This is unlikely, however, as the two figures would impede ease of use. Siberia-Alaska Area (?)pre-Christian Era. Approximately 8-1/2 inches in length, 2-3/4 inches high and one inch deep. « Less
