The obverse of this charming bell krater depicts a seated draped female, holding a fan in her right hand and a phiale and a garland of rosettes in her left. She gestures towards a naked male figure wearing a fillet in his thick, dark hair. He stands in a relaxed position, resting his weight against a staff and chlamys. In his right hand he holds a tambourine directly above the female’s phiale. The figures are flanked on both sides by a palmette complex. The band beneath the rim is filled with a laurel motif, whilst a meander design encircles the band above the base.The reverse shows two draped male figures facing one another, both wearing fillets in their hair. The figure on the right holds a staff, possibly surmounted by a votive plaque. - (AM.0031)
