Extraordinary antique painting on ivory in original frame with original crystal cover, signed A. Jahn (S. Albert Carl Alexander Jahn, Swiss artist 1841 - 1886). The painting measures 3 1/2 inches high by 2 3/4 inches wide. This is painted so well it looks almost like a photograph. The painting depicts a gentleman in formal dress. From the top of the frame ring to the bottom it measures 4 1/2 inches. Frame width size 3 inches. This artist only lived 45 years. His achievement as a portrait painter is clearly demonstrated in this very lifelike portrait. His works are very rare and seldom offered for sale. It is in excellent condition in the original frame.
