Royal Portrait Painted Porelain Plaque Marie de Hainaut
Price: $2500.00
Exquisite antique royal portrait of Marie de Hainaut. Marie de Hainaut was the daughter of Jean II, Comte de Hainaut et Hollande and Philippa de Luxembourg. She married Louis I de Clermont, Duc de Bourbon, son of Robert de France, Comte de Clermont and Beatrice de Bourgogne, circa September 1310 at Pontoise, France. She died circa August 1354 at Chateau de Murat. The portrait depicts Marie in her regal attire, a beautiful gold and jeweled crown, superb gold jeweled collar, Ermin robe, and her dress decorated with fleur de lis and a black lion. This is the only known portrait on porcelain of this important French royal. The quality of the painting is so lifelike that she really looks alive. When you look closely her eyes appear to be looking right through you. The painting is in excellent condition mounted in a gilt wood antique frame. The frame has some minor cracks that could be filled to make them perfect but in our eyes its fine just the way it is and will make a wonderful addition to anyone's collection. This is the only porcelain portrait we are aware of or could find any records of. The colors are just beautiful. The quality of the painting could not be any finer. The portrait measures 6-5/8 inches high by 5-1/4 inches wide. The framed size is 10 inches high by 8-3/4 inches wide. This is a beautiful painting that will surely satisfy any collector or connoisseur. (Item #73125)
