About The Poster: The Folies Bergères (a famous parisian music hall that was at the height of its fame during the Belle Epoque) celebrated its centennial in 1969. This poster advertised a show in honor of the occasion, Et vive la folie! by playwright Michel Gyarmathy. We love the showgirl - classic icon of the French cabaret - rendered here by Jacques Darnel. Darnel was a frennch painter, illustrator and graphic artist who admired Rene Gruau's work and followed in his footsteps. Just like Gruau, Darnel spent many years working for the French fashion industry, creating ads for Dior and the like. This poster is mounted on linen and is in excellent condition.
