This item has been SOLD. A Burmese Transformation figure, of a human face peering out of the mouth of a tiger. Probably an image from a folk tale or heroic myth, this Bilu is intended as a protestor of the place in which it hangs. The tiger head is mounted on a wooden plaque which has an old iron stirrup style hanger attached to the back. The head, ears and teeth appear to have been carved seperately. The wood shows some minor cracks and there is probably 35 to 40% paint loss. Early 20thC. H:10"x W:6", on metal display stand stand H:12ood, gesso and paint with metal hanger.
