Fine 19th Century Meiji Period Boxwood Carving of Shoki Standing on Oni. Carved standing figure of Shoki in highly detailed battle armor with long sword in right hand and small lantern in left hand. Shoki stands victoriously atop grotesque oni (demon) with claws, beard and horns. Finely carved detailing to facial features, helmet, armor and sash. Fine old patina. HEIGHT: 21.7 cm (8.5 in) CONDITION: Good. small losses at front of shoulder.Some hairline drying cracks to base. Nice old patina to wood surface.
