DESCRIPTION: Located in the original thirteen colonies, the Woodland People or Eastern Woodlands Indians played an important role for the early European settlers. They traded many items with the early colonists including skins, wooden treen, and baskets. Their trade items were often decorated with such designs as medallions, horizontal chains, floral, arrows, leafs, and block stamping. We are pleased to offer this Outstanding Rare and Early Primitive Native American Woodland Indians Carved Pilgrim Century Cricket Bench Stool from New England circa late 1600s for your consideration. Cricket stools were important pieces in the early colonists homes for using by the fireplace and sitting for children. What makes this cricket stool so exceptional is that it is carved from a single piece of New England native white pine wood. The Native American stool has beautiful carved design elements including arrows on the top and concentric circles with carved leaf design on the sides. The antique pilgrim century stool is decorated with incised lines on the top and sides. The antique carved stool bench is light in weight from age and moisture shrinkage. The antique Native American bench has a primitive brown stain most likely made from walnuts.
