Signed D. Alonzo antique bronze sculpture "Virgin of the Lourdes". The bronze is inscribed Etling Paris on the bottom of the back of the bronze base. This bronze is pictured in the book Art Deco and Other sculptures by Bryan Catley. It is part of a series of bronze and carved virgins sculptured by D. Alonzo around the turn of the century. Alonzo did a series of nine (9) bronze and carved Virgins. This one is entitled Virgin of The Lourdes pictured on page 31 of Catley's book. It is one of the most beautiful virgins in the entire series. It is mounted on its original marble base and measures 12-1/2 inches high. Not including its original marble base the bronze measures 11-1/2 inches high. The base measures 4 inches deep, 3-3/4 inches wide and 1 inch high. Weight 5 lbs. The bronze is in excellent condition. It is inscribed Alonzo on the back top of the bronze base the virgin stands on. This is the most desirable model of the entire Virgin series. She is guaranteed to please as are all our items.
