Victorian, circa 1880 Pair glass fairy lamps with Nailsea-type fairy size domes in blue with white loopings. Domes rest in pegged Cricklite embossed lamp cups, inserted into gold fitting on top of a glass standard. Maker''s mark ''CLARKES PATENT TRADEMARK CRICKLITE'' to base of cups. Fairy lamps originated in England in the 1840''s and are candle burning night lights that would have been used in nurseries, hallways, and dimly lit corners of the home. Generally good. No restoration. Fairy 1: Dome: Minor nibbles around the top rim. Standard: Slight wear to the base. Fairy 2: Dome: Two small, shallow chips inside the base rim. Minor nibbles around the top rim. Cup: Two shallow chips to the exterior. Standard: Some wear to the base. Fitting is slightly loose. 14.25ins high
