A bronze censer's cap was well cast and was exquisitely carved with beautiful motifs. On top there's a lion's head with bulging eyes, fiercing fangs and well defined hairs. At the lower portion, the spiral clouds were above the sea waves. Under the cap, the molding clay was still reserved for verifying. It was a fine piece for verifying the excellency of the ancient metal work. The golden metal sheen was an evidence for its fine quality too.   « Less

A well-modelled cat shown coiled on a circular base which surrounded by Bo-Shan(mountain ridges) with head turned and resting on its back, the tail emerging in the center and three paws together at the front. Comparing to the pieces we’ve usually seen in obvious bronze material and was gilt on the surface, this tiger weight was calcified totally and was covered with the burial BaoJiang(the mineral coatings). Obviously had been excavated for a long time and had been passed for generations, verified by the slippery-feel, darken-hue surface and some later-added red pigment, the heavy weight was preserved as a very good object for a paper weight or a curiosity for treasuring and no need to be worried about the further oxidation of the metal. Even though the weight was covered heavily with mineral coating, the features of the beast was well defined. And the bulging muscle are well rendered and was full of strenuous form.   « Less

Fantastic Wakazashi or Tanto carved in highly polished bone and possibly some ivory elements. This is one of the nicest swords there is in this genre. Circa 1880 and a master carving job by Japanese Meiji artists. Look closely at the depth and detail of all the elements of this sword. Includes a dozen or so inlaid mother of pearl and abalone pieces. Pierced in spots and inlaid horn eyes. A few minor restorations and age lines missing one horn inlay.
