Circa 1902 17" high x 9 1/2" wide This is a custom framed 1904 Hood''s Sarsaparilla advertising calendar. It was professionally framed by Venetia Thompson of Principally Pictures in the 1990''s. The calendar is creased in the natural folds but is in otherwise fine condition. It features a lovely young woman with poppies in her hair. The calendar is glued with water soluble paste and will not damage the paper. The mat is green silk in two shades on two cut mats. The surrounding ribbon is silk in green and red. The wood is a carved wood modern frame with a couple of chips. This is an excellent piece for collectors of advertising and period decorative accessories. The copyright is 1902 C.I. Circa 1902 Paintings of the lovely subjects of the four seasons were painted by Jules de Laroche and printed in 1902. The calendar has been custom framed with decoupage flowers of the period and gold bullion trim on pink brocade fabric. The framing was by Venetia Thompson formerly of Principally Pictures. The pictures are mired by my poor camera skills and glare which appears. Be assured the framed calendar is in very good condition.   « Less

Circa 1915 25"W 31 1/4"H 3 3/4"W frame Outstanding carved floral Sunflowers frame in gold Gesso with a gold filet. The frame is nearly pristine with only slight loss of floral at the bottom right corner. This piece was custom matted by Venetia Thompson of Principally Pictures in the early 1980''s. It has pale blue raw silk mat and all vintage gold bullion trims and French lingerie ribbon bows in each corner. The mat and calendar have been laid down on the fabric and glued using water soluable glues. It has been my favorite ephemera and advertising collection, the very center of my collection since I assembled all of the components in 1980. Wonderful 1915 calendar exquisite detail. The chromolithograph is in a German printing technique started in 1908. The calendar features a gorgeous young Art Nouveau beauty with her face pressed against brilliant pink roses. A treasure for the most advanced collector of Art Nouveau, ephemera, or advertising''s lovely ladies of a bygone era. The frame alone is one of the best I have ever seen worthy of a museum collection.   « Less

The front page features a print called Prince Codadad and a quote by Henry Ward Beecher,followed by a page consisting of dates for each month of the year. I believe this was first used as a print in Arabian Nights. These were popular as gifts and promorionals in the 1920's.   « Less

Measures 5 and one half inches by three and one quarter inches.The Brinley Family were well ensconced among the social and political elite of colonial New England. Connected by marriage to other elite families in Rhode Island and Massachusetts the Auchmutys, Craddocks, and Tyngs among them the Brinleys were refined, highly educated, public spirited, and most often business-minded. Civil War Collectors-here is an antique document that reflects the daily life of the Civil War soldier. It is a receipt, dated 5 December 1862 in Middletown, Connecticut, and issued by the Adams Express Company's Army and Soldiers Package Express. The receipt is for shipment of one box from Middletown to Washington, DC. The interesting part of this old document is in the fine print. The company promises only to get the package to a convenient point near the destination where it will be turned over to third parties for delivery to the consignee or the "Quartermaster or other officer of the regiment to which the consignee is attached." Disclaimers of liability follow. War was close to home in those days. Still-where were UPS and Federal Express when you needed them? The piece is approximately 8 and one quarter inches wide by 5 inches high. It has been framed for your enjoyment, and the overall dimensions are approximately 10 and three quarters inches by 8 and three quarters inches. Condition is excellent with no chips or tears. There are creases, as the recipient obviously folded the receipt to put it in his pocket, just as we would today. This is a fine piece of Americana, taken from the darkest hour of the country's history.   « Less

This wonderful antique document is a list of expenses owed by the Town of Middletown, Connecticut, to a certain George Phillips for the year 1786. It includes such items as a "load of wood", board for three children for fourteen days, and daily items such as sugar and candles. The piece is dated in January, 1787, which was six months before the Constitutional Convention met in Philadelphia. Notice that the list of expenses is still denominated in pounds, shillings, and pence, even though it came ten years after Independence. The piece has been custom framed for your enjoyment. The overall dimensions are approximately 8 and three quarters inches wide by 10 and three quarters inches high. The piece itself is approximately 6 inches by 7 and three quarters inches. The condition is excellent. There are crease marks on the page as it was folded for mailing, but there are no tears or chips. A real piece of Americana!   « Less
