Long, narrow scent / smelling salt bottle, known as a flacon, made in France, 18th century.Measures just under 8inches long.Long, rectangular container with rounded edges. A sharp tapering forms the neck above which the top flares out slightly. The original stopper fits into a conical shaped opening. The opening is quite uneven in thickness, showing the age of the glass. The surface is beautifully decorated with blue and white enamel. Condition is very good. Long, narrow, elegant foot, richly gilded and textured leading to oval shaped bodies with shield-shaped amber glass ''windows'' outlined in black. The triangular theme is continued in reverse on the neck, with gold enclosed in black. Sensuous gold metalwork leads to original atomisers. No chips/cracks. Very minor gilt wear on bases. Made in Birmingham, England.Measures 4inches high.Round bottle very deeply cut on the entire surface except the shoulder.Neck and hinged lid are cased in silver. Repousse floral and scrolling motif with a reserve that can be engraved with a monogram (left empty). Has the original glass stopper. Fully Hallmarked silver.Condition is MINT. Early 20th century Czech art glass bottle with bronze cap/stopper and rings. Almost identical bottle is to be found in the best books on Bohemian glass. Original function may be either a perfume / scent bottle or, it''s been suggested, a Christmas ornament for hanging from the tree. Stands 5 1/8inches high. 3 1/4inches accross at widest point. Amber - olive ribbed glass bedecked with white peacock marks with blue centers. They are part of the glass, not applied and illustrate the incredible mastery of technique of the artist. The slightly irregular round shape of the neck (see photo) also shows that the piece was handmade. Bronze ball stopper fits snugly into the neck. It has a loop and two rings attached to it. 1896 Birmingham, England: cut glass and sterling silver lidded cologne or perfume bottle. 5 1/4'' high. Round body made of deeply faceted cut glass in vrious patterns. The neck is silver overlaid and the screw-on lid is silver with scrolling repousse patterns and engraved cap. Lid is marked in two places for Birmingham 1896. Some of the lower marks are worn, but the others are quite clear. HW ?N & ?L is the maker. The bottle and silver are in very good condition: negligible minute dings to the silver. A superb crystal perfume, with both clear and frosted finish. We believe it to be Hoffman, it's marked with the butterfly logo. Each side features a different intricate scene with nudes and/or cherubs. Top is marked sterling with pink guilloche enamel. There is one tiny flea bite on a corner, but the glass appears to be excellent besides. Bottom shows minor wear. If anyone out there could supply any information on this piece we'd appreciate anything you could tell us.   « Less
