French table clock time and strike on bell circa, 1860 employing the count wheel of striking. This is an imaginative French creation, depicting rustic cabin with vines foliage, roaster and turtle on and around it. The movement has been professionally cleaned, oiled and is in fine working condition. The dial is perfect employing separate enamel cartouche' pieces, have four Roman numerals blue on white. signed Jappy Freres and has the mark of the dealer also the lyon & the letters LB in the circle. The Jappy movements has held the high regards and a gold metal winner. The pendulum is original, time is regulated from the front. This thermometer is a very rare item mounted on glass with the mercury contained in a spiral glass tube as shown. The brass metal parts have been gilded with gold professionally. This item is the result of an agreement between Great Britain and France then patented. The clock thermometer manufactured by the British United Clock Co .,Birmingham, England, also has the unique feature of concentric winding and setting at the center back. The unique frame has been gilded and lacquered. Running duration is 30 hours and run perfectly.
