Circa 1840 Chinese Export Blue Canton Vegetable Dish with Associated Cover. The vegetable dish itself measures 10 5/8" X 9 3/8" X 3" in height. The inside dimensions where the cover would set on is 9 5/8" X 8 1/2". On the bottom of this piece, reads as follows: 1996.CG.1134. I believe that was a inventory number and this was a deaquisition piuece out of a museum. The quality and the color is very good. The top was purchased by me elsewhere and I have performed the marriage of these two pieces. To begin with the cover is also of very good quality and blue color is slighter lighter than the blue color of the dish. The cover is also of very good quality and has a beautiful finial. The rain and cloud border of both pieces are of the same design and match perfectly. The bottom of the cover measures 8 5/8" X 7 1/2", so it is quite apparent it is smaller that the matching cover should be. The cover has been in my possession for years and the bottom was just recently purchased in the North Shore area of Massachusetts, near the Peabody Essex Museum in Peabody, Ma. Which as you know is where the finest chinese export museum is located.   « Less

Circa 1840-1850 Chinese Export Famille Rose Verte Rose Mandarin Scene in a nice diamond shaped open serving dish. This dish measures 10 1/2" X 8 3/4". This is a unusual pattern that we have seen and owned only a few examples. Excellent Condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. Slight wear on the left and right side at nine oclock and three oclock, which is common at a place where this piece would have been handles. On the back of the piece is a firing mark that we have shown in one of our images.   « Less

This is a pattern of Mottahedeh that we have not seen before, so apparently we do not know as much about chinese export porcelain as we thought. It is a reproduction of a Chinese Export Service that was made in the chien lung dynasty C.1750-1760. This shrimp dish was part of a complete dinner service that the heirs sold us a platter and the shrimp dish. The 18th Century Dinner set is in the Dallas Museum of Art and is part of THE WENDY & EMORY REEVES COLLECTION. The reproduction was sold out of the Dallas Museum Gift Shop as are many pieces of Mottahedeh Tobacco Leaf we have bought have come out of the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art Gift Shop.
