Sonoma County

35 miles north of San Francisco lies Sonoma County, an area known for its beautiful scenery, redwood trees and of course, wineries. But what you might not know is that Sonoma County is also home to hundreds of antiques dealers. The best way to find these dealers is to follow Antique Row, a route that stretches eight miles along Highway 116. All along this route you’ll find items that range from formal country furniture to early 20th century radios to milk glass lamps to vintage fruit crates. On the western end of this route, the town of Sebastopol contains several antiques shops as well as the Antique Society, which houses 70 dealers.

Farther north, between Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys, the town of Healdsburg contains a number of wonderful antiques shops, up to 100 dealers. Nearby, for when you’re ready for a little rest and relaxation, are approximately 70 wineries and Lake Sonoma, the perfect spot for outdoor fun. Non-antiquers won’t be bored here either. Along the Russian River, there are plenty of cute resort towns nestled amongst redwood trees with numerous opportunities to hike, swim, hike, fish, canoe and kayak. Other attractions and events worth noting are the Russian River Blues and Jazz Festivals, the Armstrong Redwood State Reserve, and in Santa Rosa, the Burbank Center for the Performing Arts and course museums, including one devoted to modern art and one to Charles M. Schulz.
