Gold on silver, set with fabulous colourful gemstones. Made 19th century, circa 1830. This is a large sized bangle - measures 2 5/8inches accross. Central amethyst is approx 1/2 inch (13mm) long. Exquisite bangle made of 9ct gold with silver top, set around the upper half with moonstones, emeralds, diamonds and a central siberian amethyst. Rows of cabochon moonstones, doubling towards the center. Lead, on either side, to a pair of beautiful emeralds. Directly alongside the emeralds on the other side are a pair of diamonds (a pair on each side of the bracelet - 4 in all). A ring is formed partially by the diamonds, completed by more moonstones. Within the ring is a large oval amethyst of a wonderful, deep violet colour. The contrast in colour between the bright green of the emeralds, the bright purple of the amethyst and the soft cabochon, milky blue/opaline moonstones is stunning to say the least. Gleams wonderfully. Few jewels have the presence of this bangle. The large size might have been made for a large lady, but it could also have been made to fit further up the arm, as was fashionable during the early 19th century. Condition is very good.

Antique Earrings Banded Agate 14k Gold Cannetille C1820 http://www.antiques.com/classified/2464/ANTIQUE-EARRINGS-BANDED-AGATE-14K-GOLD-CANNETILLE-C1820 Antique earrings made of 14carat gold and banded agate. Made during the georgian era, circa 1820. Measure a tad under 3 inches long, not including the earwires. Weigh 20grams. Exceptionally lovely, elegant pair of earrings. The finest cannetille wire-work in bright 14carat gold, finely wound cones, scrolls and loops form the mount. Unusual to find faceted hardstone of this period, this is fabulous banded agate in rich brown marbled with shades of white. The earrings fan out from top to bottom, with the narrow, top end with collet-set round gems. The collets with scallops and serrated tops. A long agate drop is suspended in the middle of the cannettile work as are 3 round agate beads at the bottom. All of these, attached via loops and decorative tops and bottoms in gold, with a generous swing as the wearer moves. The loops that go through the ears are probably replacements, but are extremely comfortable and easy to insert. Earrings are in exceptional condition considering their age and their delicate nature.

Pair Victorian Buckle Cuff Bracelets - Enamel Mourning http://www.antiques.com/classified/2467/PAIR-VICTORIAN-BUCKLE-CUFF-BRACELETS---ENAMEL-MOURNING Exceptional pair of antique victorian buckle cuff bracelets / bangles with black enamel. Made circa 1870, probably american. Each bangle is 2 1/2 inches accross. They will fit a wrist of about 7 inches. Weight:71.8grams. Sturdy gold-filled bangles with garter or buckle motif. Faux fixing on the front, as though the buckle has not quite been pulled through the loops. Black tracery (also called taille d'epargne), decorates the entire surface with geometric and botanical themes. Interesting variations of texture in parallel panels. Mourning jewellery, incorporating black enamel was the norm during queen victoria's era, as she mourned prince albert. After the first few decades, the element of mourning subsided to a token gesture, as these bracelets indicate - black, but lighthearted, fine and delicate. Each one is absolutely fabulous and the pair, quite exceptional. Secure clasps - easy to open/close. A safety catch to ensure additional security. Another stunning feature of this pair of bangles is that they are in such fabulous condition. After nearly 150 years, the enamelling is as pristine as it coule be. Generally, very good condition. One tiny flaw that can be fixed in a jiffy: the safety catch of one bangle needs two links to be rejoined.

Antique Egyptian Revival Mechanical Pencil Pendant Deco http://www.antiques.com/classified/2468/ANTIQUE-EGYPTIAN-REVIVAL-MECHANICAL-PENCIL-PENDANT-DECO Antique, egyptian revival pendant / mechanical pencil. Probably made 1920's and has a strong art deco feel. Closed, the pendant measures approximately 3 1/2 inches long. With the pencil extended, slightly over 4 3/4 inches long. Measurement does not include the ring for suspending the pendant/pencil. Pendant / pencil in the form of a pharaoh mummy, probably based on the tutankhamun boy king, excavated circa 1922. Made of gilt-metal with beautiful enamel enclosed in gold outlines. Very strong art deco feel to the stylised figure and patterned design. Both sides are identical (back and front). The base extends a few inches and contains a pencil, in good working order. The loop, suspending the pendant/pencil is marked with an engraved name that looks like airtea, although the first and last letters are not clearly legible. Generally very good condition. A tiny area, visible in the highly magnetised 'photos, has restored enamel, but this is mentioned only in order to be entirely accurate - it in no way impinges on the beauty and elegance of the piece.

Not only are the flowers and birds wonderful themes, but they are beautifully and thoughtfully designed with 3 precious metals that play off each other and add contrast and interest, making them all-the-more appealing. Antique Pendant Poniatowski Intaglio Carved Carnelian http://www.antiques.com/classified/2484/ANTIQUE-PENDANT-PONIATOWSKI-INTAGLIO-CARVED-CARNELIAN Antique genuine poniatowski intaglio carved carnelian in a new gold pendant mount. Made circa 1820's in europe. Carnelian is approx 1 1/8inches accross. Including the mount, measures approx 1 7/8 inches accross. Weighs 14 grams. Outstanding carved scene of mythological figures in battle. A warrior is about to stab his opponent with his spear. The latter holds a young beauty on his opposing hip. Both warriors are naked, as is the woman, except that a flying robe is held in one of her hands and the warrior on the left wears both a heavy helmet with huge plumage and decoration as well as a large oval shield. Details are quite phenomenal. Signed in greek letters near the bottom. Prince poniatowski (1754-1833), the nephew of the last king of poland, amassed one of the greatest collections of all time. In particular his gem collection gained huge fame, especially the intaglios of ancient greek and roman mythological subjects, literary and historical figures. At his death, approximately 2600 intaglios were discovered to be in his possession and later, a huge controversy arose as to whether they were actually classic or made by master european carvers of the day. It is generally believed that the latter holds true, but the quality of the carving is so superb that these items , (now 200 years old themselves), are highly sought after and held in the world's most famous museums such as the victoria and albert in london and in oxford. I received this email: dear ms ginsberg, i have been collecting pictures of poniatowski gems for my database in the beazly archive (oxford university) for several years, and i wonder if you would give me permission to add your ebay pictures to my record. The subject of the gem is: mars killing halirrhotius while carrying off alcippe, the signature is apollonides. In my database (http://www.Beazley./poniatowski/) it is the reference number t239 - after captain tyrrell, who bought it in the poniatowski sale in 1839 and published it as no. 239 in his catalogue. I am curious where you found it. Was it already in the states? After tyrrell i have no collection history for this gem. Best wishes, claudia wagner ()

Antique Georgian 15k Gold Diamond Emerald Bracelet http://www.antiques.com/classified/36366/ANTIQUE-GEORGIAN-15K-GOLD-DIAMOND-EMERALD-BRACELET Antique georgian bracelet made of 15 carat rose gold and set with 4 diamonds and an emerald. Most likely made in england, circa 1800-1830''s. Diameter of central flower is 21-22mm. Links of bracelet are 6mm wide. Like most georgian jewellery, the bracelet is very light - weighs 10.5 grams. 7 inches long, not including the ''tongue'' of the clasp. The sides of the bracelet are made of marvellous links in the form of flowers in bud, connected by with horse-shoe shaped backs, allowing for movement and flexibility. These horse-shoe links are gradated in size, with the smallest towards the clasp. The end link has a little round loop, presumably where a safety chain once existed. The beauty of the back of this bracelet extends particularly to the central medallion, which is quite lovely from the back as well. From the front, the center is a flower, made up of many fine, gold petals, stamen radiating outwards from the middle with little globes at their ends and in the center a green stone surrounded by 4 diamonds. The diamonds definately test as diamonds (not immitation). The central stone was sold to me as emerald and it tests as such on the presidium gemtester, but i am not entirely sure whether this is accurate. Either way, it is a genuine stone and a very lovely bright green colour. Like most georgian jewellery, there are no hallmarks. Good condition. Made tamil nadu, india, 19th - early 20th century. Length of earring is 7/8 inches. Width is a little over 1/2 inch. Weight is 7.4grams. Beautiful loops with filigree borders. One side of earring is adorned with sculptural geometric shapes - pyramids, globes and granulation of various sizes. Two sides have tiny extentions -with minute detail, scarcely visible to the naked eye. One of them serves as the terminal of a tiny screw. When undone, the earring opens. (see ''photos). Good condition. Good antique mughal / indian jewellery combines the wonders of ages gone by with amazing design and delicacy executed by outstanding craftsmen and is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain as it grows in appreciation throughout the world. In her book on indian earrings, page 231, waltraud ganguly explains that the design is a snake, symbol of eternity (with it''s tail in it''s mouth). These earrings, called ananthamudichu are ''practically extinct'' today. ''they need only one hinge; the screw-head is a part of the geometrical decoration and is not detectable as such when closed.'' she also tells us that the victoria and albert museum, london owns a pair of ananthamudichu, donated in 1851 to the exhibition of that year.
