The cup was finely shaped and was well glazed as those documentary counterparts. But some firing defects were happened in the cavetto. They were caused by falling ashes of the firing wood.

A Metal Tiger Weight Of Western Han Dynasty,206bc-ad.8 http://www.antiques.com/classified/18495/Antique-A-Metal-Tiger-Weight-of-Western-Han-Dynasty-206BC-AD-8 A well-modelled cat shown coiled on a circular base which surrounded by bo-shan(mountain ridges) with head turned and resting on its back, the tail emerging in the center and three paws together at the front. Comparing to the pieces weâve usually seen in obvious bronze material and was gilt on the surface, this tiger weight was calcified totally and was covered with the burial baojiang(the mineral coatings). Obviously had been excavated for a long time and had been passed for generations, verified by the slippery-feel, darken-hue surface and some later-added red pigment, the heavy weight was preserved as a very good object for a paper weight or a curiosity for treasuring and no need to be worried about the further oxidation of the metal. Even though the weight was covered heavily with mineral coating, the features of the beast was well defined. And the bulging muscle are well rendered and was full of strenuous form.

An Excavated Jianyang Temmoko Tea Bowl Of N. Song Dy http://www.antiques.com/classified/18505/Antique-An-Excavated-Jianyang-Temmoko-Tea-Bowl-of-N--Song-Dy A black-glazed jianyang temmoko tea bowl was in full characteristics of excavation. Intriguingly transformed into a brownish tint on the surface due to long time of burial and was then induced to an astonishing look by the incursion, the bowl was still in a sound structure without any defects. In typical black body clay(revealed at the foot ring, though was covered by the grayish tint caused by firing and from burial), the tea bowl was mold by steep wall and stand by an well shaped foot ring. A similar piece was in an exhibition in moa japan from the museum of fujiang province. Whatever the incursion caused was lighter than the piece shown here. Being noted were what identically the foot rings were shaped, and the characteristics the black slip dripped to the foot ring. Another rare and similar excavated jianyang tea bowl in unique whitish tint was sold in my website-lot310.

A Tang(619-906) Sancai Water Pot From Excavation http://www.antiques.com/classified/18506/Antique-A-Tang-619-906--SanCai-Water-Pot-from-Excavation A sancai(triple colored) water pot from tang dynasty was excavated in a decent look. In a round shape, the ware was applied with characteristic triple colors(usually as brown, yellow and green) on the upper half of the surface, and left on the lower portion of the basin unglazed. The unglazed portion was revealed with the also characteristic powder-feel white slip. The beautiful glaze was preserved well but suffused with minute crackles. The burial adhesives were preserved in portions for verification.

When the molding condition was finely preserved, the hefty brick alcove was kept with original burial earth and adhesives. It had been broken at the lower portion and was restored perfectly. It was heavyly mold by dense quality, so the whole piece was as hard as stone and is very heavy. A wood stand was custom-made to suite this ancient brick alcove and made it a very good display item.
