Tall, victorian, mirrored cabinet in solid mahogany. This is one of the most striking and unusual pieces of 19th century american furniture we have ever owned. Very high quality, with exceptionally detailed cabinetry in a deceptively simple design. All the drama of this piece on first viewing is the sheer size. It stands nine feet ( 108") tall but only 49" wide at the widest point (top of crown). The next thing that you see is the five sections of mirror, perfect for display or books, each with a single large central star, that are flat on the face side but deeply cut in the shape of a starburst from the backside. The cabinet has two doors and two drawers with original brass hardware. The door has a working lock and key. There is a repair on the door which we have made to fill a hole left by an inappropriate piece of hardware that we removed. All of the panels on the front and sides of the cabinet and on the columns that hold the four narrow shelves are an unusual raised panel in what i would call a pyramid shape. This fine piece of antique furniture also retains it's original pine plank back which is finished on the interior of the cabinet the cabinet also has it's original central shelf. Very good over-all condition with some old repairs and restorations, and some unevenness to the moldings around the drawers that could be fixed if desired. We have re-glued and re-polished the entire cabinet so that everything looks and functions well, much better and more even toned in person than the pictures which were difficult to take and light on such a tall, narrow piece of furniture. 108" tall x 46" wide at the base x 26" deep. Price 4800.

This fine early 20th century convertible cabinet starts out as a medium sized asian influenced, decorated cabinet and easily unfolds into a very well designed bar. The painted side panels unfold to support the unfolded top, which is a beautiful birds eye maple with an inset of glass on which the drinks can be mixed without damaging the wood. From behind the bar there are sliding glass doors for easy access to the two interior shelves which can also be accessed from the front doors when the cabinet is folded, and a bottom shelf which has insets for liquor bottles. Gilded Victorian Mantel Mirror http://www.antiques.com/classified/1064361/Antique-Gilded-Victorian-Mantel-Mirror Circa 1885. Unusually detailed, beautifully carved and gilded, eastlake, aesthetic movement, over-mantel mirror. This large fine mirror is another exceptional example of american victorian architectural detail. Although definitely late 19th century, this gorgeous mirror contains design elements of the earlier rococo style, with flowers, fruits & nuts and large leafy corner elements. Besides all the very fine detail, what really makes this mirror a standout is the fact that all the original gilding and gesso is virtually intact with only about a four inch, half round molding near the top missing gesso and gilding which we can easily fix, if so desired and an old re-gluing of the small top center element which is not noticeable. The mirror glass is also unusual with deep cutting instead of a bevel, which we believe is original as the mirror retains it's original wood back that does not look as if it has ever been touched. The plate is in good old condition with some minor loss to the silver and age appropriate scratches. There is also a one inch mahogany band running on the bottom of the mirror which is either original or many decades old and which we could remove if necessary to make it an inch shorter. This is a spectacular piece on the wall and would be an asset to any fine home or business. 67â high x 61" wide x 5" deep at the base. Price 3200.

Art Nouveau Hunt Motif Stand http://www.antiques.com/classified/1064367/Antique-Art-Nouveau-Hunt-Motif-Stand Circa 1900-10. Rare, art nouveau brass "hunt" motif fireplace tool set and stand. I have never seen a utilitarian household piece with so much fine casting and detail. This amazing stand features a large hunting dog lying down yet alert on it's front, a rifle leaning upright against one side, a dead rabbit hanging on the other side, several dead game birds along the outer edge of the bowl and an english hunting horn wrapped around the top. The decorative elements that are not hunt themed are in the finest art nouveau tradition with high relief flowers and vines on the bowl, trunk, final and arms. This set is complete and original with it's matching fireplace tools. This stand would also make a great umbrella or cane stand. Very good original condition, we have cleaned (soap & water) the dirt which exposed all the beautiful detail and fine old patina on the very heavy cast brass. The entire stand seems to lean a little to the right but it does not seem bent or distorted in any way so i believe that is how the maker intended it to be. 22" tall x 13" wide x 11" deep. Circa 1900 Orientalist Pastel http://www.antiques.com/classified/1064368/Antique-Circa-1900-Orientalist-Pastel Circa 1900. Fine orientalist pastel signed e.T.W. Although i have been unable to figure out the artist's name from the initials, this small pastel is a wonderful example of the popular "orientalist" style, with bright, un-dimmed colors and a charming sunset scene. In this picture a man rides a camel near a shoreline at sunset. He is leading a second animal and there are reflections of the palm trees on the water and shadows on the ground of him and the camels. This small work of art is very well framed by a textured gold mat and what i believe to be the original oak frame that has been painted gold in the recent past. This fine pastel is in exceptional original condition. The uneven color in our over-all picture is a reflection of light on the glass. The art is 8 5/8" x 5 5/8" . The frame size is 15 1/2" x 12 3/4". Price 250.

Art Deco Polar Bear Lamp http://www.antiques.com/classified/1064371/Antique-Art-Deco-Polar-Bear-Lamp Circa 1930. Rare and wonderful art deco polar bear lamp. I originally purchased this exceptional alabaster lamp for my personal collection but never quite found the right spot for display in my home. The lamp consists of a large jagged ice berg with two polar bears, one on each level. The polar bear on top is standing and looking down, the lower level bear is lying down with it's front paws crossed and it's head up. The lamp is lit from a socket inside the base (iceberg) which softly glows when lit. The bears are both removable with metal pins in them that fit in holes on the base. Each bear has black eyes. As with the vast majority of antique and vintage alabaster, the lamp has suffered some chips over the years, each bear bearing some scars which can be seen in the photos. I also think the bottom end of the iceberg on the side where the wire enters was originally longer. It is in completely "as found" condition, with no restorations or repairs, original socket and wire. That being said, it still displays very well and would work as a fine sculpture as well as a light. 11 " tall x 13 1/2" wide x 5 1/2" deep. Price 1200.00

This is the most unusual example of a 19th century victorian, asian influenced (japanesque) accessory i have come across. The only condition issues are a discoloration on the tip of a leaf (below the bird) which could be an old repair, and a small hair line in the bronze by the birds beak, which appears to be superficial. Handel Reverse Painted Lamp http://www.antiques.com/classified/1064404/Antique-Handel-Reverse-Painted-Lamp Beautiful handel reverse painted table light. This early 20th century table lamp is much more dramatic in person than in the photos. This vibrantly colored, hand painted scene is of a tropical garden blazing with brightly colored flowers and leaves, with two red bodied birds, one with a long green tail and one without, perched on leaves on either side of the shade. The handsome base is very decorative bronzed white metal, with flowers and leaves among the designs. The original finish of the base is in very good un-touched up or repainted original condition. Original three bulb socket fixture with original pull chains and edison based sockets. The detail and quality of this light makes me believe it is from one of the prime makers and the shade is pictured on page 124 in the handel lamps book, by hibel, hibel and fontaine published 1999 and is described as model # 6931. The shade has two small rim chips which are not really noticeable unless you look for them, they can be seen in the last photo. There are also a couple of tiny flakes to the paint which i believe are original and not damage, just places where the artist left a tiny empty spot. Fine original patina. Re-wired. 23 " tall x 8 1/2" base diameter. Un-signed. Shade is 16" diameter x 8" high.

American renaissance revival style at it's height, fresh from a brooklyn heights new york townhouse mansion. The center crest is unusual in that the figurehead crest is a classical man with a chaplet of leaves around his head. Many of the elaborate design elements on the piece are done in the higher, smoother "water gilded" finish, which adds to the beauty of this architectural masterpiece. All original "as found" condition with the original mirror in excellent condition and original back.
