The hood door is beautifully inlaid with stringing and is flanked by superb cluster columns. Above the hood door is also inlaid and there is a superb oval inlay to the central pediment. moving down to the trunk, the lovely shaped triple peak full length door is flanked by cluster columns. This is fabulous antique oak eight-day brass faced, longcase / grandmother clock, which is of the most exquisite petite proportions. This century old piece has been created in exquisite jacobean style. It is extremely rare to find a grandmother clock which is super quality weight driven which adds to the special quality of the lovely clock. the case is also wonderful being made from solid oak which has the most fantastic patina. The whole case including the back board is all solid oak. if we start with the hood this has a flat top which is finished off with a lovely cornice. Lovely delicate barley twist columns flank the hood door with nice back splats. If we then move down to the trunk this has beautifully full-length door which has the most fabulous geometric mouldings. The door is complete with it's lock which is fully working and which has the most wonderful decorative key as can be seen in the photographs. As with the trunk door the base incorporates some superb geometric moldings and is raised on bun feet. the eight-day movement striking on a gong, has a square brass face with a silvered chapter ring marked with large roman numerals with small arabic numerals above.The four corners are adorned with beautiful cherub spandrals whilst the centre incorporates beautiful engraved floral design. The face is beautifully clean which made it extremely difficult to photograph. the case has the most exquisite patina which is difficult to convey through photographs. the clock is happily ticking away, and keeping good time. The movement is nice and clean as can be seen from the photographs. The dial also has the most wonderful fretted fingers. the movement is 30 hour duration and is lovely early bird cage movement. The movement is in perfect working order and is lovely and clean as can be seen from the photographs. there is one 'kemp, lewes' listed in 'the clockmakers of sussex by e.J. Tyler'. There is a list of notes regarding this maker the key points of which are: 'kemp, william; lewes: baptised 1722; buried 1798'. Bull lane 1790'. The dial is the most superb arched dial as can be seen from the photographs. if we start with the hood, this has swan necks, which have lovely brass pateras. Below the swan necks is lovely dog tooth detailing. Lovely turned columns which terminate in brass capitals flank the hood door. The door also has a very pretty little brass knob and is reeded to the sides. There are straight back slates. if we then move down to the trunk this has a lovely full length shaped. Either side of the door has been nicely cross banded in mahogany. The door is also complete with it's lock and key which are fully working. the base is cross banded in mahogany and is raised on ogee bracket feet. the dial is exquisite and has the makers name of 'thos cooke, oakham'. The four corners adorned with beautiful flowers and gilding whilst the arch contains a beautifully gilded fans with lovely painted flowers around it.The dial also has the most wonderful fretted fingers. There is one thomas cooke of oakham listed in 'watchmakers & clockmakers of the world volume 2 by brian loomes': 'cooke thomas. Oakham. 1828-49.' condition: the clock is in lovely condition as can be seen from the photographs. The movement is 8 day duration and is in perfect working order. Our clock restorer made the point that the movement to this clock is of a very high standard only usually seen in early london clock movements. We have taken some additional photographs to show detailing to the bell stand, back cock and top of the pendulum. the style of the clock case is such that we believe this to be a thomas richardson of weaverham. This is a superb clock made by the renowned makers winterhalder & hoffmeier in schwarzenbach, germany. The movement is lovely being quarter striking with a 'ting tang' strike. the arched dial is silvered and is set out with roman numerals the silvered dial is in lovely condition. The dial is covered with glass framed in brass and is finished with pretty fingers. The arch to the dial contain the facility to regulate the clock namely the 'fast/slow' and also the 'chime / silent' facility. The case has a lovely shaped curved top which is finished with superb shaped moulding and two lovely petite finials. The dial is flanked with quarter reeded columns which are finished with lovely brass inlay to the base of the column. The clock is raised on pretty little brass bun feet. the clock is happily ticking away and keeping good time having recently been cleaned and serviced. The movement is lovely and clean as can be seen from the photographs the clock chimes one 'ting tang' on the quarter past, two 'ting tangs' on the half past and three 'ting tangs' on the quarter to. Finally it then strikes the hours on the hour. the movement is accessed by a door to the rear which has a fretted metal panel lined in red fabric which allows the sound of the gong to attenuate. The movement is stamped with 'w & h sch 3' which is the trademark for the renowned makers winterhalder & hoffmeier in schwarzenbach, germany. These were regarded a one of the finest clockmakers of the victorian period. In addition this clock comes complete with it's original pendulum and winding key. anton winterhalder married the daughter of johan hofmeier and established a factory, moving to neustadt in 1895. Four of antons sons followed their father in business each having his own factory with linus winterhalder co-ordinating. The firm made high quality clocks mainly for the english market. dimensions: the approximate maximum dimensions are: - 11.5 inches wide - 7 inches deep - 14.25 inches high age: the clock is victorian and dates to circa 1890.

It is incredibly rear to find a clock such as this with it's original bracket. The movement is lovely striking on both the hour and once on the half past. The clock is superb quality and is made by lenkirch who are renowned throughout the world for their fine quality craftsmanship in their movements and the beautifully detailed and highly decorated cases. the dial is is a work of art in it's own right. It has individual cartouches with blue roman numerals which are then mounted on superbly embossed dial. The dial is covered with glass which is mounted in a wonderful shaped gilt bronze frame. The door opens to access the dial which is finished with pretty fingers. The case is finished with a lovely pediment which is gilt bronze and depicted a young gentleman sitting on a tree stump and wearing a hat with a feather. The clock is raised on four lovely detailed scroll gilt bronze feet. The case is made from burr walnut and walnut which is a lovely rich colour. the bracket is also superb with wonderful gilt bronze detailing and beautiful walnut and burr walnut with kingswood cross banding. It is lovely to see the shell to the top centre of the clock repeated in the centre of the bracket. the clock has recently been cleaned and serviced and as such the movement is immaculately as can be seen in the photographs. It is stamped with the lenzkirch trademark behind the gong stand which has been photographed. It is also stamped '47' and '612946'. The serial number indicated that the clock was made between 1877 and 1878 . The clock strikes the hours on the hour and also strikes once on the half past. the movement is accessed by a door to the rear in addition this clock comes complete with it's winding key and pendulum. dimensions: the approximate maximum dimensions of the clock and bracket are: - 10.25 inches wide (across bracket). - 5.5 inches deep. - 26 inches high the approximate maximum dimensions of the clock are: - 9.25 inches wide. - 5.5 inches deep - 17.25 inches high the approximate maximum dimensions of the bracket are: - 10.25 inches wide. - 5.5 inches deep. - 8.75 inches high age: the serial number to the clock would date this clock as between 1877 and 1878. condition: the case and bracket are both in lovely condition, just minor marks commensurate with age and careful use, as can be seen in the photographs.
