A fabulous and most unusual pair of english black glazed porcelain cache pots, all beautifully enamelled with flowers and butterflys in glorius bright colors of pink and green. There are gilded lions heads around the base of the pots with additional gilded around the top of the pots. A really fabulous pair with very stunning colors! These were made ca 1870. An extremely handsome english mahogany campaign chest, with two large drawers and two small drawers and inlaid brass name plate on the top which is un -engraved. It has brass side carrying handles and brass mounted corners and the typical flat brass military type drawer pulls. The small size is very desirable and it has great color and patina. It has a carved signature of the maker on the top side of the chest which reads ''eldridge, london. This is a really fabulous piece. Magnificent pair of french ormolu (gilt bronze - bronze d''ore) louis xv1 style 5 arm candelabra lamps. The figures on the lamps are ladies playing musical instruments in crinoline dresses and they face towards each other. They are in very good condition for their age, the only apology being a very small piece of foilage missing behind the ladies arm on one lamp. These lamps were apparently purchased from sotheby''s new york in the 1960''s by the previous owner. These are a very large and heavy pair of exceptional quality lamps and are on large shaped ebonised bases. They can be used either with a large shade which attaches to the center arm with a finial or with individual shades as shown. Four arms of each lamp have bulbs. All i can say is wow!!!!!!!! These lamps were converted to electricity from candles at some stage early in their life. What a statement these lamps will make in a room! Fabulous fine rare set of 8 irish chippendale dining chairs. The set consists of 6 side chairs with 2 armchairs. These are very large dining chairs and would need a large room and dining table to go around, but very comfortable and sturdy. The chairs are walnut and have beautifully carved knees and backs. The cabriole legs ending in very fine hairy paw feet. The seats are upholstered in brown velvet with the original tapestries to the seat tops. The chairs are all in original condition. They can either be left as they are - which purists may prefer, otherwise they can be recovered with your own fabric. These are amazing chairs and can accomodate a large man with ease. The first measurements are those of the side chairs and the measurements of the armchairs are as follows - height 42.75 inches , width 27.75 inches and depth 23 inches. A very handsome large english oak mule chest with 2 drawers on the bottom, set on bracket feet. The chest has a four panelled front and panelled sides with a hinged top, the patina on this piece is amazing and the chest has great storage space. The brass handles on the bottom drawers were a later addition during the last quarter of the 19th century. The chest comes complete with 2 original keys, one for the top and another which locks the drawers. The bracket feet are original apart from the very bottom portion having been replaced, which is hardly noticable. Fabulous english longcase clock by listed english clockmaker john hutchinson, barstall with silvered chapter ring, moonphase and calendar ring. The hood of the clock has a nicely arched pediment with a brass finial. The clock strikes the hour on a bell. The case and the movement are totally original with original weights and key crank. The movement has been fully overhauled by a master clockmaker and has a 2 yr warranty on the movement. It was made ca 1780. All clocks sold by us are in good working order keeping good time when professionally set up. The door of this clock case is inlaid all around the edge to give a nice quality look. The hood of the clock is quite unusual as you can see in the close up photo, the glass and the dial are all original. This is a beautiful english oil painting by j. Thors ( 1835 - 1884) a very well known and highly respected british 19th century artist from london . He also worked in the midlands region, the area surrounding birmingham, englands''s second largest city at that time. Thors was regarded as an important member of the birmingham school, a prestigious group of artists from the midlands area. Thors exhibited over 40 times at the most presigious galleries in london, such as the royal accadamy, the british institution, and suffolk street. Not suprisingly, he also had numerous exhibitions in birmingham. His landscape paintings are described as rustic scenes with cottages, figures and animals, painted in a style clearly influenced by the norwich school. The genre is typical and is of a english cottage in landscape. The painting has been cleaned and re-lined by a prominent english restorer and artist from the washington.D.C. Area. It has the original paper label on the back which reads '' near dorking, surrey'' j. Thors. The painting is signed on the bottom left corner and appears to be in the original gilt frame. Paintings by thors are known to be in the national gallery of art, washington; the tate gallery, london; the cleveland musuem of art; the fine arts musuem of san francisco; the victoria and albert museum, london; the bristol museum and many other private and public collections. A fabulous large french two handled covered urn. This is extremely heavy so would have to be situated on something substantial - either a solid piece of furniture or a plinth base or column. It has great patination with exceptional detail and was made ca 1880. The swag and head detail in the photo does not do it justice - a really fabulous piece! A beautiful and unusual small mirrored door mahogany armoire. The carved domed top sits above a bevelled mirrored door, with a large deep serpentine drawer below. The door opens to reveal the un-expected - the interior all finished in birds eye maple veneer! This armoire has the makers label inside the bottom drawer which reads'' widdicombe furniture co. Grand rapids''. The inside consists of hanging space, two large adjustable shelves and three drawers. This armoire has a great amount of storage for its size and could easily be used for an entertainment centre or tv. The inside of the bottom drawer is also finished in birds eye maple. This armoire has been re-finished at some stage and is in good condition throughout. The only apology being a very small section on the top of the mirror where the silvering is discolored. The armoire is on bun feet with the original hardware and key.
