You are viewing an exquisite bronze casting of 'friends forever' (or 'eternal friends') by dh chiparus - also know as eternal friends. I hope the photos go some way in conveying the beauty to this piece, it's certainly better in the flesh. Chiparus was one of the most famous sculptors associated with the art deco movement and this is a later recasting of one of his best works. Please note, this is at our us office which is where it will ship from, which is good news for us customers as it's a heavy piece and not so far to travel. True to the art deco aesthetic, the piece has a wonderful symmetry and balance. The two borzoi dogs stand either side of the young lady clad in typical 20s attire. The piece has been cast from polychrome bronze so each section has different colours, silver for the dogs, red for her dress, brown for her face. The piece in turn stands on a black tiered marble base which is signed at the back, please see close up photo. This is offered in perfect condition ready for home use right away and we will ship this to anywhere in the world. Chiparus: born in romania and lived in paris studying under a boucher and j. Boucher. He exhibited at the salon from 1914. His later works in the 1920s were influenced by the interest in egypt after the excavation of the pharoahs' tombes. He based many works on the ballet and the theatre, one particular theme being the ballet russe, from which resulted the russian dancers. Width by depth by height 24" by 8" by 24"

]]> https://www.antiques.com/classified/1086294/Antique-Bronze-Art-Deco-Bust-Victoire-R-Lalique This piece is based in the states where we will send it on from so good news for us buyers. You are viewing an amazing brown bronze bust showing a male head who's hair fans out at the back into a wing. In tune with art decos preoccupation with aerodynamism and its particular take on perceptions of modernity, the figure looks like he could be in a wind tunnel. The piece is the epitome of art deco style and elegance and would make a great addition to any home collection. It reminds me of a mascot you might find on the front of a car, like sykes's famous silver spirit found on rolls royce's hoods. It would make for a really quirky decorative collectors piece for your home. The piece is a re-casting of the famous victoire r lalique statue. The piece sits firmly on a black marble base which has been polished and so is smooth to touch. The patina to the bronze is also smooth to touch. The bust is offered in perfect condition ready for home use right away and we are expecting a lot of interest in this unique collectors piece. Dimensions are in inches: width x height 10 x 8.5

]]> https://www.antiques.com/classified/1086296/Antique-XL-SILVER-BRONZE-ROLLS-ROYCE-CAR-MASCOT-ERIC-SKYES You are viewing a gorgeous bronze casting of the famous spirit of ecstasy (on the hood / bonnet of every rolls royce motor car) on a marble base. Like every good work of art there is a great story behind its making (see below). The piece is offered in perfect condition and ready for home use right away and would make a great collectors piece for any home or collector. The finish is silvered bronze and is nearly three feet tall making this a wonderful statue for any collection. This is certainly the most attractive and probably the best known motor car mascot in the world. Designed by charles robinson sykes, she has adorned the radiators of rolls-royce motor cars since 1911 and concealed a hidden passion. This marvellous mascot was modelled after a woman who had bewitching beauty, intellect and esprit - but not the social status which might have permitted her to marry the man with whom she had fallen in love. This is the story of eleanor velasco thornton, whose liaison with johnwalter edward-scott-montagu (after 1905 the second lord montagu of beaulieu) was to remain a secret for a decade or more, principally because both partners acted with the utmost discretion. John scott, heir to his father's title, was a pioneer of automobilism in england. From 1902 he was editor of the illustrated magazine the car. Eleanor v thornton was employed as his secretary. Friends of the pair knew of their close relationship but they were sufficiently understanding as to overlook it. The bronze is offered in very good condition ready for home use right away and we will ship this to anywhere in the world. We bought this from a dealer in london's camden passage. They are a perfect left and right and each maiden holds aloft the light. The casting on this pair is amazing as i hope the photos illustrate, the patina has a lovely dark brown finish. It's a real unusual piece full of character and would look outstanding in the hallway as part of an ecelectic and open minded interiors scheme. The bronze has a lovely dark brown nutty patina to it and we were very excited coming across this at the newark antique fair. The stance of the dog really attracted us too with his cocked ears and attentive pose. Being bronze this will last forever without rusting and hence is a great investment as it will always appreciate in value. Aside from being aesthetically pleasing and nice to look at they can also become heirlooms. Bronze is any of several alloys consisting mainly of copper and tin. ]]> https://www.antiques.com/classified/1086341/Antique-English-Bronze-Bucket-Boy-Statue-Fountain-1930s Description: from the style of the sculpture including the elongated features of the boy and the smooth almost aerodynamic look of the work we would date this as late art deco early 30s style. It stands in at over five foot tall and is impressive without being imposing. The piece depicts a tall boy with outstretched arms holding a bucket high above his head. There is a hole in the bucket which suggests this would have been used as a water feature. This is how i imagine this piece really working with a pipe running up the back and a stream of water flowing from the bucket into a small lake in which the boy stands. This would really look fantastic especially with the right lighting on a balmy summers night. Being cast from the highest quality bronze the piece can withstand the vigours of outdoor use with no worries of rust. The patina to the bronze has a lovely menthol green leading to darker variations over tone variances. The style of his hair - a short quiff to one side - also suggests a late 20s early 30s style. We were lucky enough to find this at an architectural salvage company in islington, london. Due to the unusual nature of this piece it will be of particular interest to interior and exterior designers or perhaps just the discerning individual. ]]> https://www.antiques.com/classified/1086359/Antique-Sheraton-Breakfront-Bookcase-Book-Case-English-Furniture Description: you are viewing a fantastic sheraton style mahogany breakfront bookcase. The piece comes in two parts, the four door - four drawer base, and the glass fronted top. It's the perfect mix of aesthetic beauty and practical usefulness and will add a touch of style and elegance to any interiors scheme. The piece has the characteristic sheraton style inlay to the front with the urns and garlands gracing the front of the two doors. There is also a thin strip bordering the doors, drawers and glass fronted doors. If you imagine how this inlay is created you can see how much skilled craftmanship and man hours goes into the making of this fine piece of furniture. Each piece of marquetry inlay design has to be cut out of the softer fruitwood and then embedded into the harder mahogany of the main structure. There is a lot of storage space. The doors on the bottom open out to reveal the large inner space. This door is lockable and comes with a key. The drawers at the top open out cleanly. Then of course there is the fantastic glass fronted top half again with keys. When this opens out you can see the shelves are adjustable so you can store various items. Being glass fronted its a great way to showcase your decorative pieces, such as porcelain, bronzes and other collectibles. Of course books also look great in this piece. At the top is the classical pediment. This fine piece of furniture is a design classic and will last you for generations and hence makes for a great heirloom. This piece is offered in perfect condition and has just come back from the restorers where it had a repolish and hence is ready for home use immediately. Sheraton furniture is characterized by its careful, rectilinear proportions and fine workmanship. Chairs with mainly straight rails and small decorative tablets in the backs are typical; seats are given generously deep upholstery, while legs are tapered, straight or turned: not a cabriole is to be seen. Cabinet pieces have rounded corners, convex or concave shaping, with pilasters and fluting. Mechanical contrivances and tambour doors were much favoured and so were silks —in festoons and swags for beds, and in pleats behind the glass doors of cabinets. Mahogany, satinwood, and other finely figured hardwoods were used; marquetry decoration is restrained, sometimes giving way to painted flowers or classical subjects on the most exuberant pieces. Sheraton's cabinet dictionary (1803) was in line with the stricter archaeological classicism of the early 19th century, while his most ambitious work, the cabinet-maker, upholsterer and general artist's encyclopedia had only reached the letter c when he died. Dimensions are in inches: 84 inch high x 72 inch wide x 18 inch deep

]]> https://www.antiques.com/classified/1086362/Antique-Pair-Walnut-Regency-Sheraton-Open-Front-Bookcases Description: you are looking at a pair of english sheraton style openfront bookcases hand crafted from the finest walnut. This lovely pair are the perfect mix of decorative beauty and practical functionality to make for a vintage design classic. They look great in any room and they are able to store lots of items. Ostensibly they are bookcases but of course you can use them to hold other items, they look particuarly good with decorative items - statues, vases etc - in them. However, for myself, being the bookish type i have a pair in my home with nothing but lovely, fading works of literature in them. The shelves are adjustable to suit meaty tomes or smaller paperbacks. The shelves work on a slat system so you can adjust them to whatever height you like for whatever you like, from 'war and peace' to the 'world's smallest book of poetry' these bookcases are perfect. The open fronts are sheraton style, main body is walnut polished to a high sheen with solid shelves the inlay is made from various fruitwoods - satinwood, rosewood, applewood - to create a beautiful affect. The fruitwoods are softer hence there use as inlay within the harder mahogany. The level of the craftmanship on these is absolutely superb, both strucurally in that they are very solid, and also with the intricacy of the inlay. The close up pictures of the inlay work hopefully illustrates the level of craftmanship with patterns of scrolling branches, urns and flower motifs. They would be the highlight of any room and due to their solid construction will last for many generations more. They are in perfect conditon structurally and they have just come back from the restorers where they were repolished so they are ready for home use straight away. Dimensions: height 82†- 208cm width 39†- 99cm depth 12.5 “ - 32 cm
