It is profusely chiseled with ancient battle scenes, equestrians and erotic male human figures as quillons emerging from the mouth‘s of monster heads! Exceptional condition with no repairs. Even the thin arms of the male quillon figures are perfectly intact. The grip is a 20th century rewrap, perfectly executed! Its fine german rapier blade is flattened diamond in cross section and stamped in the fullers 'ihn solingen', both sides, perfect condition! Over length about 42 ½â€. Now $395. here is a large beautiful english salt glazed character stoneware jug, circa 1840, bearing the likeness of souter johnny, who was tam o’shanter’s sidekick in the famous robert burns 1790 poem. this marvelous jug is probably a doulton. Lambeth product or also possibly a product of derbyshire. this jug is about 6 ½†tall and 8†wide. it has the most beautiful speckled salt glaze that you will ever see! it is in nearly perfect condition, no cracks or repairs, but it has very minor, underneath, base flakes, see photo. a super piece! another example of this jug, but no where near as nice and missing its handle is in the museum of london collection and can be found in their on-line catalogs. The silver mounting is exquisite. We have never seen finer! The silver mounting appears to date in the 1740 - 1750 period so “great grandpa’s old wine bottle was probably converted into a fine serving bottle about 100 years later! Quit possibly to preserve the memory of great grandpa. the bottle measures about 10†tall overall. Both bottle and heavy solid silver mounting are in perfect condition. Even the original cork with silver top (some shrinkage) is still present! Seal reads “p r 1749†base of bottle has deep kick-up and “sand pontilâ€. A band of decorative punch marks around the shoulder is also enhanced with cobalt. About 11†tall. the jug has a piece about 6 1/2†x 6 ½†that was broken out on the lower left of the front. And glued back in place it involves the lower right edge of the front medallion where a small piece is missing and a sliver is also missing below, see photos. During the jug’s working lifetime the handle was broken off and the jug was fitted with an interesting makeshift pewter handle that was too weak and had also broken off. The pewter nubs remain. (see photo.) during the thirty years war (1618-1648) the german rheinland was invaded by french armies and came under french influence. Hence the use of the fleur-de-lis design in a german baron’s arms. a baardmankruik (beard man jug) bearing three medallions of the same design (also dated 1644) is in the collection of the rijksmuseum #bk-nm-10069. a large, impressive piece of historical importance! please state your full name and location when inquiring.

Was $5,995. now only $3,995. c 1728 english sealed onion black glass wine bottle with the lewis family crest, possibly belonging to frederick lewis, prince of wales, son of king george ii (february 1707 – 31 march 1751); a most colorful and important figure in early 18th century england an was first in line of succession to the inherit the british throne from 1727 until his death. he arrived in england in 1728, one year after his father became king george ii. According to van der kiste, pp. 39, 85, he was a high-spirited youth fond of drinking, gambling and womenizing. Prince frederick lewis, was always in opposition of his father, king george ii, and never became king himself as he predeceased his father in 1760. the seal bears the lewis royal family crest of a greyhound (royalty) upon a chapeau (peer to the throne) as it was created at that time. Its near transitional form, along with the date of prince lewis arriving in england (1728) would date its manufacture in the 1728-1730 period. about 6 7/8†tall. Deep green, black glass. Deep kick-up with sand pontil. String rim chipped as in photos, otherwise excellent with no cracks or bruises, full gloss to glass and expected use wear. unlisted by ruggles-brise and dumbrell. A beautifully engraved optical german glass beaker, dating to the late 17th century and beautifully engraved with a sword duel in 3 oval panels! most probably made in brandenburg, the entire beaker is cut with round optical circles that give a vertigo effect when looking through the glass! The 3 large panels depict a sword duel, 2 men dressed in period garb: the ready stance (en guard), the engagement, and the final outcome death! Archaic german text atop each panel. See all photos. Beaker is about 4 ½†tall x 3 ¾†wide. Extremely heavy thick glass. Base has a ground pontil scar with tons of wear. Beaker has expected overall wear and extremely light oxidation.
