You are bidding on a beautiful wicker child's carriage. I just had a wood bottom so i has my upholsterer make rose colored velvet & tuffed cushions. It has the original red pin stripe on the spoked wheels and on the yellow painted iron frame. The brake pedal is dated pat. Sept 3 1882. The wicker except for two small pieces is in exceptional condition. There is a hole in the back that must have been for a parasol at one time; i never had one. The carriage measures: back wheels are 23 1/2" high, the front wheels are 20 1/2" high. From the handle to the front is 49" long, the handle is 34" high, the front 33" high, from wheel to wheel it is 22" wide.

Heywood hardy was active/lived in united kingdom, england. He was a painter & etcher of animals, portraits, genre & sporting subjects. He was born in chichester on 25th nov. 1842, son of the artist james hardy, 1801-79. His career flourished and he was elected a member of societies including the royal society of painters & etchers, the royal institute of oil painters & the royal society of portrait painters. In 1909 hardy moved to w. Sussex and at the age of 83 he painted the first in a series of eight panels depicting biblical scenes for the chacel of clymping church, to mark it's 700th anniversary in 1925. The panels caused controversy as they depicted christ walking on the sussex downs & local farm land, amidst modern figures said to be residents from nearby villages. This painting is signed 'heywood' on the lower right side by the artist. The painting is richly detailed with the pastoral beauty of england country sides. In the fore ground is a beautiful white horse, an english gentleman with white breeches and a bright red jacket. He is holding his black top hat,his riding crop and his two hunting dogs are just waiting. Measurements are: inside 25 1/2" long x 37 1/2" wide. Outside 32" wide x 44". Nr the painting is the responsibility of the buyer or if you send your zip and city i may be able to get a quote.
