Pair of Miniature Shoe Stickpin Holders Item# 9178 Circa 1930 2''H 4''L This is an auction for a pair of vintage stick pin display holders. They are made in the form of miniature shoes. Each shoe is decorated with yellow leather with a bow, velvet inserts & glass bead trim. There are leather tops and bottoms on the shoes. They are adorable and were used as stickpin displays in my antique store for many years. The condition is very good. Silver pill box in the form of a ladies handbag - highly appropriate for Hermes. Decoration in the front is actually the ''thumbpiece'' used to pull the box open. Back and bottom have classic handbag finish. Underneath has engraved hallmarks:HERMES PARIS BDL in a lozenge and 925 (for sterling silver) in a lozenge and finally, MADE IN ENGLAND. Good condition. Enamel on copper bowl made of enamel handpainted and fired on copper. Artist signed Donald Andrick and with original lable. Believed to date to 1970''s. 7 1/2 inches in diameter. a little over 1 1/2 inches high. Small round base flaring out and up to form th bowl. Background like a peacock of black flecked with white and over that, slightly raised stylised Palm trees around a ring. The shades of green and gold are very beautiful. Back is artist signed in gold letters Don Andrick and the original lable, slightly worn, but still clearly legible reads ''enamel on copper by Donald B Andrick Worcester Mass''. Outstanding artist signed handpainted Spanish fan. Probably made in Spain, early 20th century. Measures approx 20 inches accross the top & guard is 11 inches long. Sticks and guards are made of brown laquered wood, held together with a simple metal ring. The leaf is painted in gouache and depicts a night-club / dancing bar scene as is evidenced by the darkness on the sides and the barrels of wine. Brilliantly composed painting: the central area is bathed in white and yellow light and in the middle is a flamenco dancer, her white ruffled skirts disapearing into the white light cast by an old lantern. Her mouth wide open as she arches her back, arms thrown up with fingers outstretched in a classic flamenco pose. We can almost hear her call out and feel her feet stomping on the ground. Around her are musicians and audience, including other dancers: the men in black suits with big black hats, the woman with flowers in their hair, huge Spanish combs and the long, ruffled dresses of the flamenco dancer. Shawls thrown about their shoulders, they stand slightly out of the highly lit area, totally steeped in concentration as they watch the dance. The intensity of their gazes is quite palpable. As the painting progresses to the sides, it gets darker and darker and we see a fine palette of browns, purples and deep reds. The last visible character on the right is seen from the back only - a dark cape and hat fading into the mysterious darkness. The quality of the painting is fabulous and it is clearly a wonderful work of art in it''s own right. The painting is artist signed F.SALVADORES under the word Sevilla. Presumably, it was done to promote the town of Seville. Condition is very good with the exception of a split in the very end fold of the fan(over the guard stick on the left). Slightly rough edges can be expected due to the age of the fan, but they are negligible and mentioned only for total accuracy. VINTAGE / ANTIQUE handpainted fan, souvenier of Havana, Cuba. Probably dates to very early 20th century. Measures approx 14 inches accros the top and guard is approx 8 inches long. Fan is made of cotton fabric. The front is beautifully handpainted with a view of buldings in the town of Havana, surrounded by old, Victorian street lamps, Palm trees on either side, a beautiful flower garden & lawns in the front, all under a gorgeous orange and turquoise sky. Although it is clearly made as a souvenier, as the big bright red letters CAPITOLIO HAVANA CUBA proclaim, the art is quite wonderfully done. The edge on top is bordered with a silver foil-like ribbon. The sticks are reticulated wooden, with a delicate pattern. Guards are painted in black laquer. Condition is very good. No damage. Vintage filigree silver metal (no hallmarks and not believe to be sterling) pill / snuff / trinket box, set with hardstones. Likely originates in the Middle East or Caucases. Person I bought it from believed it was unmarked sterling silver. I think it is silver-coloured metal. Measures 2 inches accross and approx 1 5/8inches high. Stands on 4 angled feet. Beautiful filigree work in hearts and scrolls cover the entire surface. Further set with a variety of hard stones in turquoise, red, blue and green. Beautiful workmanship. Good condition.
