This is a lovely slightly shabby pillow from about one hundred years ago. It is linen and lithographed with a popular scene by Paul DeLongpre. It features a spill of plump red roses on a lace tablecloth. Hovering above is a fat bumblebee. The is a faded pale blue ribbon on one corner. The pillow is in good but not perfect condition. Exceptional Arts and Crafts Poppy Pillow Item# 12251 20'' square plus 5'' tassels (The size includes 2'' fringe) This is the best Arts and Crafts pillow I have ever had! Museum quality made by Kathleen Caid for Nightingale Designs with all vintge materials. It has a beige linen top on beige herringbone backround. It is embroidered linen top is decorated with silk thread in brilliant poppy red and greens built up in high relief. The center of the poppies and the seed pod have knotted black accents. The 5'' tassels are red and black cotton thread accented with gold bullion. The back of the pillow has beige corduroy in a herringbone pattern. The pillow is in perfect condition. The pillow face was completed in the early 1900''s but it was completed as a pillow with fringe, backing, stuffing and fringe in the 1990''s. A treasure to anyone who swoons at the sight of the Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau poppy designs in decorative accessories. Art Nouveau Pillow Item# 8182 Circa 1900 17''W x 18''H This is a vintage pillow top with newer backing and fringe. It features a side profile of a beautiful young woman from the neck up. There is a large orange poppy over her ear and green foliage which seems to extend from her shoulder to her hair. The silk linen front is backed with tan velvet on the back. Cloth sheered fringe surrounds the pillow in black, beige and orange. The image is lithographed on the fabric in what was a new printing process in the very early 1900''s. The process was imported from Germany. This fabric is faded from it''s original brightness because of sun light, florescent lighting and time. There are several spots on the back velvet but it is in otherwise very good condition. The green foliage, orange poppy and her hair style are all appropriate for the period.This is a lovely reminder of a more gentle past. The image was called Sleep.
