George III, dated February 7th 1816 1816 Silkwork Sampler by Elizabeth White. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass. Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing. The sampler is worked in silk on canvas ground, in a variety of stitches. Meandering floral border. Colours dark brown, greens, copper, pink, black and gold. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and numbers 1-20. Verse reads ''The Loss of Time is Much The Loss of Truth is More The> Loss of Jesus Christ is Such as no Man Can Restore> Remember thy Creator in the Days of thy youth, while the evil> Days come not, nor the years draw Nigh, when thou shalt say, I> have no Pleasure in them, for GOD shall Bring every work into> Judgment With every secret thing, fear the Lord thy GOD''. Signed and dated ''Elizabeth White Finished February 7th Aged 13 Years 1816. Two crowns and a scene depicting two male figures holding the hands of two children, all standing amongst trees with birds flying overhead. Generally Good. Two holes. Ground is thin in places, making the white backing visible. Dark stain above the trees, and uniform age darkening of the ground. Some stitch losses to the alphabet, numbers and birds. Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched. Frame in very good condition, ready to hang. 21ins by 15.5ins wide
