Victorian, circa 1860 Pair Staffordshire zebras on naturalistic bases. Two legs and tail of each molded free. Dull gilt bridle and base line. Vent hole and raised cross mark to undersides. Generally good. No flakes. Right facing: Kiln effects: shallow firing crack to the reverse. Repair to neck. Repaired shrinkage crack along the mold join to zebra''s back and around base. Retouching to the ground. Left facing: Paint loss to zebra''s right eye. Kiln effects: shrinkage crack between zebra''s eyes; over glazed shrinkage lines to base, zebra''s tail and hind left leg; a few specks of kiln soot to the base; a few flecks of cobalt caught in the glaze to reverse.
