Victorian, circa 1870 Holdcroft Majolica pitcher in the form of a bear holding a drum and drumsticks behind his head. Handle in the form of a cobalt drum strap. Turquoise interior. Green underside with three stilt marks and a painted cobalt mark. Similar piece illustrated on page 107, Abrams ''Majolica A complete History and illustrated Survey'' by Karmason & Stacke. Good. No hairlines. No chips. A few tiny flakes to handle, and another to the rim. Kiln effect: several small glaze pops to the bear''s forehead. Repaired crack to one side of drum. Restored flake to mouth corners. Two restored flakes to underside. 8.25ins high
