This Petite Second Empire style Secretary is in Excellent Condition,c1880. Featuring A cabinet raised over a small desk on four cabriolet legs ending in sabots. The desk has one drawer with a fabric covered writing surface / dust cover. The cabinet is set over two small drawers, and opens to reveal one shelf. The whole is in ebonized wood accented with decoration of brass inlay and foliate brass ornaments at the knees. During the Second Empire in France, apartments were quite small, which required small scale furniture, such as this petite secretary.
