Our Big Red Story Book really is a Big Red Book. This is a hard cover book and It measures 25 3/4 inches high and 18 1/4 inches wide when closed. It features its own stand within the book that un-snaps to open for use, located on the front and back of the book. There is a sliver metal tray located inside the bottom edge of both the front and back covers to keep the pages open and in place where they need to be while in use. It is a Ginn Basic Reader 1948 Edition from Ginn and Company; Leicester Sq. LONDON, England and is dated 1948. Our Big Red Story Book must have been a class room aid for the teacher, to bring to life Susan, Betty and Tom and is beautifully illustrated with wonderful pictures that the children are able to relate to. Such as, Tom and his wagon, Betty riding in a wagon, Susan with Flip the dog, Mother and Father involved with the children, their toys and pets. The artistry is outstanding, with bright colorful outfits, children, dogs, a pony and scenery. It makes a child's life a fairy tale of adventure. It is a five ring binder style book with 30 cardstock pages and includes 9 cardstock pages of blank paper to be used by the children or teacher to illustrate writing or drawings of choice concerning the book. Each cardstock page has five rings holes to enable it to be removed or added to the book . The book is in very nice condition, having light wear from age and use. The corners of the cover are a little bent and there is common light soiling from age and storage.
