FULPER POTTERY, COPPER DUST FLAMBE' RAISED FOOTED BOWL, GREAT CRYSTALS - For Sale
FULPER POTTERY, COPPER DUST FLAMBE' RAISED FOOTED BOWL, GREAT CRYSTALS
For sale is a wonderful piece of Art Pottery made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The item is an Arts & Crafts Raised Footed bowl. The Bowl is a nice size as it stands 3 1/4" tall and is approximately 7 1/4" in diameter.
The Bowl is done in one of Fulper Pottery's most beautiful and sought after glaze combinations called "Copper Dust". The Bowl Sits on top of 4 Raised Feet that resemble the feet of period furniture. This piece is definitely all about the glaze!! The Copper Dust Crystals are plentiful and brilliant!!. The inside lip of the bowl has the dark flambe rim that these copper dust crystals bleed down from and cover the entire inside of the bowl. The outside of the bowl is done is the same fashion.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is a glaze burst on the outside rim and an inclusion on the outside underlip that is glazed over in the dark flambe glaze. The Vase is marked on the underside bottom with Fulper's Racetrack Ink Stamp Signature mark. This would date this Vase to be made Circa 1922-1928.
This form was rarely made in this glaze and you Copper Dust Glaze Collectors don't let this one slip by. This is known as shape number 447 in the Fulper Pottery Catalog and is described as a "Footed Bowl" available in 2 sizes. The largest was 9 1/4" in diameter and the other being 7" in diameter.
This is a wonderful example of this Form and Glaze from Fulper. The estate this came from was loaded with Gustav Stickley Furniture. I'm sure the Buyer will not be disappointed with their purchase. This would look outstanding on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts style Bookcase.
This Glaze was extremely hard to photograph. The reflective glare from the crystals made it difficult to capture the true brilliance of this piece. The Bowl is much better in person than my camera could show!!
